It is with bittersweet feelings I write this; our current Advisory Board secretary Joan Izen has submitted her letter of resignation to the Advisory Board effective November 1st,. She and her husband Joel are moving forward with a new plan for their future. They have sold their house on Bishop Shore Rd. and will be enjoying oceanfront living closer to their family and grandson in New Castle, NH.

Joan started with the Advisory Board in 2013 under the leadership of Jane Fairchild. She first became the at-large member and a few years later morphed (or got roped) into the secretary position taking over for Jane Nash. She has been the most valuable secretary one could ask for; taking and writing up minutes from all board meetings and events, being my personal editor for anything I write and publish, and overall providing a keen sense with her views and opinions on all things Lake Kanasatka. She has assisted our Loon Liaison Trish Townsend on many loon spotting occasions and has brought a wonderful balance to the board. We will miss her tremendously.

The entire Advisory Board wish her and Joel well. She has said she will continue her LKWA membership as her 21 years on the lake is something one doesn’t forget. And she told me she’ll keep in touch if I need to jog her memory for memories about issues we had together.

Our best to you Joan and Joel!
