Although the lake has been quiet under the serenity of the ice this past winter, it has been a very busy couple of months for the team working on our Watershed Management Plan (WMP).  We have been diligently working alongside our environmental consultants, FB Environmental, to complete the many reports integral to developing our WMP to ensure success.  We have finalized or are close to finalizing our:

  • Watershed Survey Results
  • Shoreline Survey Results
  • Build-out Analysis
  • Lake Loading Response Model
  • Water Quality Goal Memorandum

The next steps in our process are to review and finalize these reports in cooperation with our Technical Advisory Committee and then present our findings to you for discussion at a community meeting.  This meeting will be held on June 4,2022 at 10:00 at the Moultonborough Academy Auditorium.  Please SAVE THE DATE as we would like to have as many of you join us, we need and welcome your input!

We remain on schedule and expect to complete the WMP on budget and within the original summer of 2022 time frame. Once the WMP is complete, we must all turn our attention to implementation and mitigation.  At the community meeting, we will be discussing action plans as well as funding opportunities.

As the spring waters begin to run, we ask everyone to take a look at their own property to identify things that you can do to help reduce storm water run-off and adding unwanted nutrients to the lake.   The members of the LKWA Advisory Board and the WMP Steering Team continue to be committed to developing and implementing a successful WMP, but it will take all of us working together to to improve and protect our lake for generations to come.
